Since 2008, Anja has been working at Wageningen University & Research. She is our primary contact person for the chairgroup Microbiology. Therefore, Anja is the central figure in bringing international (guest) employees to the Netherlands for this department. Thanks to her extensive experience, she understands the importance of having the right knowledge.

What has WCFV done for you, and how was the process?

For all new (guest) employees who do not have Dutch nationality, we engage WCFV. This can involve seeking advice beforehand to determine if it is feasible to start someone with us. But usually, we involve WCFV to initiate the procedures and ensure that a person can start with us according to the applicable rules and regulations.

Do you have multiple knowledge migrants working with you, and are there differences?

We have several knowledge migrants working with us. For individuals coming from within the EU, the procedure generally goes very smoothly. For someone from a non-EU country, many more steps need to be taken, and we must comply with more rules and regulations.

“Together with WCFV, we can confidently arrange employment or guest accounts through HR.”

What benefits have you experienced from working with WCFV?

We can partially hand over the startup process to WCFV. We are then assured that the latest rules and regulations are being followed. We can then confidently arrange the employment contract or a guest account through HR.

Do you have tips for other organizations looking to bring migrants to the Netherlands?

Get support from people or organizations who are knowledgeable. In some cases, it can be quite complex to comply with all the rules and regulations. By involving others who are knowledgeable, you can avoid fines for non-compliance.

Is there a case that has stuck with you the most?

When you want to employ someone from outside the EU, it is not always possible to obtain a Dutch residence permit for all positions and candidates. WCFV provides tailored advice on the possibilities for the candidates we select. This proves to be very valuable in every case!
